How It Works

Filter Plates and Frames: The filter press consists of a series of filter plates (also called filter membranes) and frames that are arranged in a stack. The filter plates are typically made of materials such as polypropylene, cast iron, or stainless steel, depending on the application. The frames are designed to support the filter cloths that act as the filtering medium.

Filtration Process: The slurry or liquid mixture is pumped into the press, where it is distributed evenly between the filter plates. The filter cloths trap the solid particles, allowing the liquid to pass through. Pressure is applied to help squeeze out more liquid from the slurry and increase the separation efficiency. The liquid that passes through is collected and typically referred to as the filtrate, while the trapped solids form a cake between the filter plates.

Cake Discharge: Once the filtration cycle is complete, the filter plates are separated, and the solid cake that has accumulated in the frames is discharged. The cycle is repeated as needed.
