It is a trisulfonic acid derivative of 2-naphthylamine and is used as a dye intermediate. It is used to produce a variety of dyes, pigments, and other colorants for a wide range of applications such as textile, leather, and paper industries. K acid is known for its excellent light fastness and high tinting strength.
