1. What's parking air conditioner?

Parking air conditioning (also known as parking cooler/ electric cabinet air conditioner) refers to battery powered air conditioner, consuming electricity from the vehicle battery (DC 12V/24V/36V/48V/60V/72V) instead of taking power from engine. It’s normally used in vehicle parking to control the temperature, humidity, flow rate to create a comfortable environment for drivers.

Parking air conditioner is widely used for trucks, construction machinery, campers, motorhomes, and other confined spaces. Compared with traditional vehicle air conditioners, parking air conditioners do not need to rely on vehicle engine power, which can save fuel and reduce environmental pollution.

Parking air conditioners are mainly for single-cooling, constituted of condenser, evaporator, electronic control system, compressor, fan and piping and others parts. For rooftop air conditioners, refrigerant HFC134a/R410A is prefilled in the air conditioning system. For split parking air conditioners, prefilled and un-prefilled types are for option.

Parking air conditioners are divided into rooftop air conditioners, split/backpacks air conditioners, and hidden and parallel air conditioning systems. While rooftop air conditioners require cutting the ceiling, for customers who cannot accept this situation, clients prefer split air conditioners.

To avoid vehicle not starting due to low battery power, all parking air conditioners are equipped with low-voltage/high-voltage protection, current overload protection and other protection functions. If there is any problem with the air conditioning system, the corresponding error code will show on the screen. According to the error code, the error code explanation and solution will be provided in the manual, which makes air conditioner repairment easier. The error code definitions for each model are different, so clients need to refer to different instructions.

2. Specifications for 12V Underdash Motorhome RV Air Conditioning I8

12V 24V Underdash Motorhome RV Air Conditioning I8 was launched in 2020, for high end market. It's with scroll compressor, aluminum condenser and evaporator. It's constituted of indoor unit and outdoor unit. For indoor unit, 5 adjustable vents type, silent automatic swing outlets type, 202 evaporator, 404 evaporator and all other types match this outdoor unit. Both refrigerant prefilled type and unfilled type are for option.

3. Notes for using parking air conditioners

In using parking air conditioner, please follow the instructions as below:

To set the air-conditioning temperature within a suitable range. Low temperature not only easily causes physical discomfort, but also increases energy consumption.

To choose proper operation mode: Parking air conditioners are with eco mode, sleep mode and strong mode. Clients can choose the appropriate mode according to their needs.

4. Error codes definition, faults, and solutions

When the panel detects a fault, the fault indicator is on, the digital tube displays the fault code, and the fault code display content and definition are as follows

E-C Temperature sensor failure

Check the temperature sensor

E-2 Run high current protection

Check whether the line of the compressor controller is loose. If not, replace the controller

E-3 Compressor blocking protection

Check whether the line of the compressor controller is loose. If not, replace the controller

E-4 Under voltage

Use the battery after low voltage charging, or the battery cable is too long and needs to be thickened

E-5 Poor refrigeration protection

If the external fan turns and the compressor does not work, the controller needs to be replaced. If the fan turns and the compressor works, the refrigerant needs to be added because of the lack of refrigerant

5. Installation Instructions

Filling Freon

Use a vacuum pump to extract vacuum for more than 15 minutes, and the low-pressure gauge indicates that the pressure is less than -0.1MPa

Filling 600g R134a Freon

Observe whether the pressure is normal, the normal pressure of the low-pressure meter is 0.3-0.5MPa, the normal pressure of the high-pressure meter is 1.3- 1.5MPa

Attention: Refrigerant oil is filled in the rooftop/split air conditioner before delivery. After first time installation, do not fill more refrigerant. In case of any refrigerant leakage in using the parking air conditioner, add 80ml refrigerant oil POE68 again. The refrigerant oil must be of high quality.

6. How to maintain parking air conditioner?

Before cleaning it, make sure the air conditioner is turned off, powered off and unplugged.

* To clean indoor unit evaporator surface:

Wash the cleaning cloth in clean water, dry it and wipe the surface of the unit. The cloth can be dipped in the water solution of neutral cleaner.

* To clean the core of evaporation tank:

Remove the indoor unit case and blow off the dust on the surface with compressed air.

* To clean outdoor unit:

Remove the unit case and clean the condenser with compressed air. Avoid any bump against the condenser.

If you don’t use the parking air conditioner for a long time, unplug the air conditioner and wrap the outdoor unit and avoid any bump

* To use the parking air conditioner after long-time storage:

Clean the unit body, condenser, and evaporation unit; check if there is foreign matter at the air inlet/outlet of the indoor and outdoor unit; check if the drain pipe is clear; put batteries in the remote control; make inspection and power it on.

Tips:

Clean the air conditioner once every month. If there is too much dust in the working environment, increase the cleaning frequency accordingly. Please make regular cleaning to make sure it can run normally.

7. RFQ

● How many hours will the parking air conditioner work?

For scroll compressor type, sleep mode power consumption is 600W, strong mode power consumption is 800-1000W. For rotor compressor, sleep mode power consumption is 400W, strong mode power consumption is 700-800W. For example, 24V 400Ah battery, scroll compressor parking air conditioner will last 10-12 hours, and rotor compressor parking air conditioner will last 14-16 hours.

● Do I need to buy other parts after I receive the parking air conditioner?

It’s a whole package with all parts needed. For rooftop parking air conditioners, Freon is prefilled, so all you need to do is install and connect it to battery. For split air conditioners without Freon, all you need to do is ask a mechanic to install and fill Freon at suggested amount.
